Local plumbing business, Water Tight Canberra, has beat 4 other finalists to take out the award for the Small and Succeeding category in the ACT Telstra Small Business Awards held last night.
While tradies are often known for ‘being unreliable’, this is one company that ensures that their customers can rely on them turning up at the time they said they would.
Water Tight Canberra Director, Tom Martin explained that from the very first email that gets sent to confirm a booking, to the text message 30 minutes before arrival, their well-dressed plumbers always arrive within the allocated time.
“We credit this punctual service largely to our use of digital technology to engage with our customers and improve productivity. The use of digital technology across all areas of our business is critical to our business’ success and an area that we will continue to improve on,” he said.
Tom said tradies are not generally seen as businesspeople and that’s what made him decide to submit an application for the award.
“It’s not often you see a trade business take out a prestigious business award, so we are pleased for the plumbing sector in winning this award. While many people may just see their plumber as someone who unblocks their toilet, this award shows the broader aspects to running a plumbing business,” said Tom.
Water Tight Canberra continually strive for excellence and being professional and ethical in all of their business dealings is of upmost importance. In this regard, Tom believes their membership of the local Master Plumbers Association is something he is proud of.
“Being a member of Master Plumbers shows that we are serious about conducting our business in an ethical and responsible way and in a manner that also benefits the community”.
And as the President of Master Plumbers ACT, Tom is obviously doing more than just paying lip service to his association membership!
